Not a 'fan' but, then again, am I?

I certainly don't particularly like his on-track douchebaggery (and 3y.o. criery) at times but I am finding it harder and harder to find reasons to not 'like' seb off track.

He's an O.K. guy, and he even has a sense of humour. Something Alonso and some other drivers have yet to develop. People just hate him beause it gives them something to do, when the actual racing has become somewhat boring with the same guy winning again and again.

Yeah, the only thing I can find to hate him for is that he's too nice to hate...

Yeah, I'd dislike him if he wasn't one of the most charming and likeable personalities on the grid.

To be honest, it's Red Bull that are causing the dominance rather than him. He's a top class driver, but so are Hamilton and Alonso.

I can't remember who pointed it out, but someone noted that Red Bull (unlike many of the other teams) was there from the very minute the buildup for a race started, right until the last second of the 3am curfew after the race.

He seems like a nice enough guy off-track. It's probably his habit of winning and being smug and sometimes a bit of an ass about it that's keeping people away.

I'd like him instantly if he drove for any other team. He's a phenomenal talent, but what I really don't like is the Red Bullying.

Seems like a good guy off track as well. So conflicted on this one...

The way I see the Sebastian Vettel thing:

He is probably a fast driver, but until he is put in a car similar to Alonzo and Hamilton, we won't know for sure. Mark Webber was definitely as quick in 2010, but Red Bull have since developed the car around Sebastian's driving style which has lead to his dominace over Mark.

I don't like the cockiness that turns into a toddler tantrum every time he might not get his way.

He hardly ever seems to get any bad luck, as opposed to Lewis Hamilton and Alonzo who have had the championship swept out of their hands through mechanical failures (though this is mostly down to how amazing the Red Bull chassis are).

I am looking forward to 2014 because Red Bull are less likely to keep on winning as consistently, yet I am not looking forward to 2014 because of the lack luster engines. So it goes...

I think a lot of folks just like underdogs...Vettel is the anti-underdog. He's also a terrible team player, which tends to leave a bad taste in people's mouths.

I think Vettel is a legit champion driver... He would have been successful at Ferrari or McLaren and probably gotten a world championship or two, but I think his sheer dominance over the past few years is a perfect storm of an adaptable driver and an adaptable (and innovative) team. He can set up his car, which is designed by the best in the business and is reliable, that alone might get him a championship. Add in that his engineers keep making cool toys like 'exhaust blown diffusers' and 'KERS traction control' (if that's even what's going on) and that can propel a driver who may have been a 'one and done' champion into a legend.

At Suzuka the commentators said something along the lines of 'your kids are one day going to ask you what it was like to watch Vettel drive' - just like now we want to know what it was like to watch Senna or Lauda or Fangio. Vettel is making history and he'll be remembered for it, whether you like him or not. Jeremy Clarkson began his tribute to Senna by saying he wasn't even really a fan of Senna back in the day, he always thought Gilles Villenueve was the best, and so 'missed out' on the enjoyment of watching Senna. 20 years down the road nobody will care about the barely legal extras RBR put on their car, and nobody will care that I really would have preferred that Jenson Button win the championship, they'll just remember the German kid that took the sport by storm.
